Elizabeth Banks, Issa Rae and Mindy Kaling are going to make comedies for HBO Max, the new streaming service from HBO. The channel announced the plans for the platform on Tuesday in Los Angeles.
Elizabeth is working on a series about a group of students at a boarding school for teenagers with supernatural gifts. The characters come from the DC Comics universe. Issa is developing a series for the streaming platform with the working title Rap Sh * t, about a female rap group trying to make it in the music industry.
Mindy produces and writes the College Girls series. The channel describes the protagonists of the series as “three sexually active students who are just as lovely as they are insatiable”. A whole season has already been purchased for the show of The Office actress, the other two shows are currently being piloted.
