Speaking on the Gayle King Grammy Special, before the awards on Sunday evening, she said: “I was so unhappy last year. I was so unhappy and I was so joyless.
“I don’t want to be too dark, but I really didn’t think I would be 17.”
Speaking at her childhood home in LA, the singer, who just turned 18, said there was a special moment when she felt overwhelmed by her emotions.
She said to King, “I think about this time when I was in Berlin and I was alone in my hotel, and I remember there was a window right there, and I, like … God, I remember crying because I thought about how … the way I was going to die was that I was going to do it. “
She says it was her mother’s thoughts that stopped her.
Her mother, Maggie Baird, helped her recover, putting the singer in therapy and reducing her busy schedule.
Eilish credits his fans and their response to his shows for helping him get through these dark times.

She revisits suicidal thoughts in the lyrics of her latest single, the new Bond theme announced All I Wanted.
Written with her older brother Finneas O’Connell, the song was inspired by a dream she had of committing suicide, and then finding out that her family, friends and fans didn’t care.
