Bill Cosby compares himself in his first official statement during his detention with historical political prisoners such as Martin Luther King, Gandhi and Nelson Mandela.
In the statement he made through his lawyer Andrew Wyatt through social media, the 81-year-old Cosby also says he does not regret his actions and never gets it.
“Now I have a temporary stay that looks like the rooms where some of the greatest political prisoners have been, such as Martin Luther King, Gandhi and Mandela.”
Cosby was sentenced at the end of September to a prison sentence of three to ten years because of sexual abuse of Andrea Constand.
The actor was found guilty of three cases of sexual abuse in April. These cases were combined in the determination of the sentence. The legal team of the actor immediately announced after the decision to appeal and has now started the procedure.
According to Cosby’s lawyers, Judge Steven O’Neill made many mistakes when first handling the case against Cosby in 2017, the second lawsuit earlier this year and the penal provision. For example, there would have been tampered with a tape that has been used as evidence.
The comedian, who, thanks to his role in the sitcom The Cosby Show, was seen for years as ‘America’s father’ , has been accused by dozens of women of sexual harassment, drugging and sexual abuse. Many things, however, are barred.
