Beyoncé and Jay-Z dedicated their concert in Detroit to Aretha Franklin. The legendary soul singer would die in that city.
“We love you”, said Beyoncé Monday night at the show, reports Detroit Free Press Tuesday. Also the singer Franklin thanked for her “beautiful music”.
DJ Khaled, who is responsible for the Carters’ program, also discussed the health status of ‘The Queen of Soul’. He recorded the song Respect in his set, to the delight of the audience.
Beyoncé and Jay-Z entered Ford Field on Monday for their On The Run II world tour. The stadium is a stone’s throw from the Aretha Franklin Way, the street that was named after the singer in the summer of 2017.
Franklin has been fighting cancer for years. On Monday it became clear that her health is deteriorating. An initiator told CNN Tuesday that the singer is at home in hospice care. She is surrounded by family members.
