Bautista Previously Expressed Interest in Portraying Batman’s Villain, Bane.
Bautista Removed himself from Playing Bane in DC Comics, despite Previous Suggestions.
He stated to Insider, “I discussed it with James, but I think his plan for completely restarting the universe, going younger and fresher, requires a fresh start, and that’s where he’s headed.”
“Starting fresh with younger actors is crucial for reviving the DC Universe,” the 54-year-old actor noted. “It’s important to plan for the next 15 years, and I don’t think I’m the right fit for that. I understand and appreciate it, as I don’t want to portray a character in a way that wouldn’t do justice to it.”
“At this stage of my career, I don’t think I could bring justice to Bane,” Bautista continued. “I’m not confident about handling the physical demands, and I doubt I have the longevity for a series of films. So, I don’t think I’m the right actor for the role.”
In 2021, Bautista, known for his role in Guardians of the Galaxy, expressed his desire to play Bane. He said, “I’ve been openly eager to play Bane. I even went to Warner Bros. and DC to express my interest. I walked in and said, ‘I want to play Bane,’ even though they weren’t casting for the role at the time.”
