Mattel, an American toy company, showed the latest version of the Barbie doll. She is dressed as the cult alter-ego of singer David Bowie – Ziggy Stardust, writes The Guardian newspaper.
As noted, Barbie is sold complete with red boots, striped jumpsuit, some space accessories and face paint. The cost of the toy will be 50 dollars.
“In celebrating two icons of pop culture, Barbie honors the best pop chameleon , English singer, songwriter and actor David Bowie, whose dramatic musical transformations continue to influence and inspire,” Mattel said during the presentation of the doll.
The creators of the toy added that this collectible Barbie honors the cultural heritage of the musical genius who changed the definition of rock and roll.
To mark the 50th anniversary of Space Oddity by David Bowie , Mattel has created a Barbie doll in the image of Ziggy Stardust, the famous androgynous and eccentric character from space.
