At least three people were killed and two children injured Tuesday during a shootout at a northern California elementary school, authorities said, adding that the gunman had been shot dead.
According to KCRA, a local media outlet in San Francisco, shots first broke out in a Tehama County home and then continued at school.
“I know that a number of schoolchildren have been evacuated by the air. I know that the school was secure, that the children who were in class were placed in a safe place, “said local Deputy Sheriff Phil Johnston on KCRA.
According to him, three people died during the shooting that mobilized 100 members of the police. The shooter, pointed out Phil Johnston, was shot dead by the police.
