A closer version of the original fantasy books.
In its uncontrollable frenzy of adaptation of old cult films on the small screen, the American TV is about to make Conan the Barbarian a hero of series.
The Amazon platform is developing this new drama series, based on Robert E. Howard’s original books . She wants to be closer to the novels and will tell the story of a tribal warrior who “wanders in the mysterious and treacherous world of civilization, in which he seeks a goal, while this environment rejects him as a soulless savage”.
Conan remained especially famous for his film version, with Arnold Schwarzenegger (in 1982) and his sequel, Conan the Destroyer (1984). Jason Momoa took over the role in a new movie in 2011, with little success. But it should be noted that several animated series Conan the Barbarian, then Conan and Young Warriors and Conan the Adventurer were broadcast on American TV in the 1990s.
To develop this new version of the warrior, Amazon has appealed to Ryan Condal ( Colony ), Warren Littlefield ( Handmaid’s Tale ) and especially the excellent director of Game of Thrones, Miguel Sapochnik. They will be the creative team for Pathfinder Media and Endeavor Content.
