It’s Rian Johnson (“The last Jedi”) who will take care of the realization of the first episode …
You’ll get back to a bit of Star Wars. While episode VIII arrives on French screens on December 13, and the IX will be released in 2019, Disney announced Thursday it was preparing a new trilogy, as well as a TV series. It’s not a spin-off like Rogue Oneor Han Solo but episodes X, XI, XII of the saga.
“We are very pleased to announce that we have just signed an agreement with Rian Johnson, the director of The Last Jedi, (Episode VIII), to develop a brand new Star Wars trilogy,” said group boss Bob Iger, in a conference call to shareholders. Johnson “will introduce new characters from a corner of the galaxy that Star Wars mythology has never explored before.”
Rian Johnson ( Looper ) will take care of the script and the realization of the first episode of the new trilogy. “Now, I hope you will REALLY love The Last Jedi, ” he joked on Twitter.
Obviously I hope you like The Last Jedi. But man now I REALLY hope you like The Last Jedi.

TV series in preparation
On the TV series, Bob Iger did not give details. We just know that it will be intended for the streaming service that Disney is preparing, to be launched in 2019. In short, Disney is fully exploiting its franchise, and it’s quite logical: The Awakening of the Force has brought in more than 2 billion dollars at the global box office.
