Rapper Ye West, formerly Kanye West, meets US President Donald Trump and his son-in-law Jared Kushner on Thursday. According to sources from The New York Times, a meeting with Kushner is planned first, followed by a lunch with Trump.
West follows in the footsteps of his wife Kim Kardashian, who visited the president in May to plead for the release of detainee Alice Marie Johnson.
In June, President Donald Trump pardoned the 63-year-old woman who spent 21 years in a Alabama prison for a relatively light drug offense.
West would like to argue with Kushner for better future prospects and jobs for former detainees. With Trump, West would also be talking about creating more jobs in Chicago, where the rapper grew up.
It is not the first time that West and Trump shake hands. In 2016 they met at the Trump Tower in New York. West has been supporting Trump for years.
Recently he wore a Make America Great Again cap, the slogan with which Trump captured the White House. During his campaign, he often wore such a cap.
