FX has unveiled the second official trailer for the highly anticipated series “Feud: Capote vs. The Swans,” created by Ryan Murphy.
In the latest preview, Tom Hollander takes on the role of Truman Capote, engaging in a gripping confrontation with the Swans. The trailer hints at the narrative surrounding the renowned author’s entanglement with an elite group of women, exploring the betrayal that led to their infamous fallout.
The exclusive group features iconic figures such as Barbara “Babe” Paley (Naomi Watts), Slim Keith (Diane Lane), C.Z. Guest (Chloë Sevigny), and Lee Radziwill (Calista Flockhart).
Immersing himself in the lives of these influential women, Capote befriends them and becomes their confidante, only to later betray them by penning a thinly veiled fictionalization of their lives in his planned magnum opus, “Answered Prayers.” The published excerpt in Esquire shatters Capote’s relationship with his swans, leading to his expulsion from the high society he cherished and triggering a self-destructive spiral from which he never recovers, as described in the official synopsis.
The star-studded cast also includes Demi Moore, Treat Williams, and Molly Ringwald. Moore takes on the role of Ann Woodward, a socialite and Swan, while Williams, who passed away in June 2023, portrays TV executive William Paley, husband to Watts’ character. Ringwald embodies Joanne Carson, the Los Angeles socialite in whom Capote confides after being shunned by his New York circle.
Crafted for television by Jon Robin Baitz, “Feud: Capote Vs. The Swans” boasts direction from Gus Van Sant, Max Winkler, and Jennifer Lynch. Executive producers include Ryan Murphy, Alexis Martin Woodall, Eric Kovtun, Scott Robertson, Dede Gardner, Jeremy Kleiner, Baitz, Van Sant, and Naomi Watts, who also stars as Babe Paley. The series, produced by 20th Television, is set to premiere on FX on January 31, with episodes available for streaming on Hulu the following day. Check out the compelling trailer below.
