Film studio Paramount has found a director for the upcoming prequel to ‘Grease’. Brett Haley, known for films like ‘I’ll See You in My Dreams’, ‘The Hero’ and ‘Hearts Beat Loud’, will get the job done. That reports ‘Deadline’.
Last April, it was announced that Paramount is working on the film, which should be titled Summer Lovin ‘. That is a reference to the first words of the song ‘Summer Nights’ of the soundtrack of the still popular original.
The film is about the summer romance of Danny and Sandy that sets the story of the 1978 blockbuster in motion. In the song ‘Summer Nights’, lead actors Olivia Newton-John and John Travolta take turns singing about the summer love their characters experienced, with Sandy’s version being a lot more innocent than Danny’s.
Four years after Grease , there was a sequel to the movie with Michelle Pfeiffer and Maxwell Caulfield in the lead roles. The film marked the breakthrough for Michelle, but was far from successful after the original film.
