After the Oscars, BAFTAs will also be postponed by two months on Monday next year. The major UK film awards are now scheduled for April 11 instead of February 14, the organization announced.
Further details about the ceremony will be announced later in the year.
The displacement of the awards has to do with the corona crisis. For example, films that were delayed as a result can still have a chance of a statue. “The change from the previously announced date of February 14 recognizes the impact of the global pandemic and extends the eligibility period,” said the British Academy of Film and Television Arts. “Further details about the ceremony will be announced later in the year.”
On Monday, it was also announced that the Oscars will be awarded two months later than planned next year. The 93rd American Film Awards will now take place on April 25.
