Rachel McAdams Surprises Fans on ‘SNL’ as She Introduces Reneé Rapp and Joins Megan Thee Stallion in Spectacular Performance
In a nostalgic nod to the iconic high school comedy “Mean Girls,” actress Rachel McAdams, who famously portrayed Regina George in the 2004 film, made a surprise appearance on the January 20 episode of “Saturday Night Live” (SNL). The unexpected cameo was met with resounding applause from the audience.
McAdams took the stage to introduce Reneé Rapp, who plays Regina in the 2024 musical remake of “Mean Girls.” The musical rendition has garnered attention and anticipation, and Rapp’s performance of the original song “Not My Fault” was a highlight of the evening. Joining her on stage was the Grammy-winning artist Megan Thee Stallion, adding extra flair to the musical extravaganza.
After the electrifying performance, McAdams returned to the SNL sketch, this time portraying Natalie Partman, an actor facing challenges in the industry due to her striking resemblance to Rachel McAdams.
The real McAdams has been notably absent from recent “Mean Girls” events, making her surprise appearance on SNL even more thrilling for fans. The original film featured Lindsay Lohan, Amanda Seyfried, and Lacey Chabert, who recently reunited for a Walmart commercial. While Tina Fey and Tim Meadows reprised their roles in the musical remake, McAdams did not participate.
In a recent interview with Variety, McAdams expressed her excitement for the direction of the remake, stating, “Tina and I sort of dabbled with a few ideas, but it was tough to make it all work in the end.” Despite not being part of recent promotional activities, McAdams remains supportive of the project and looks forward to its release.
Addressing her absence from the Walmart commercial, McAdams clarified, “A movie sounded awesome, but I’ve never done commercials, and it just didn’t feel like my bag.” While she wasn’t aware of the group participation, McAdams affirmed her continued enthusiasm for potential “Mean Girls” reunions and expressed her ongoing love for the iconic characters.
