The South Korean series ‘Squid Game’ is the first non-English language series to be nominated for an American Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Award. The Netflix hit even has a chance in four categories during the ceremony next month, it was announced on Wednesday.
Lead actors Lee Jung-jae and Jung Ho-yeon are nominated for Best Actor and Actress in a Drama Series, respectively. In addition, Squid Game also has a chance to win the prizes for best cast and for the stunts. With five nominations each, the American series Ted Lasso and Succession are the main contenders during the SAG Awards.
House of Gucci and The Power of the Dog are the biggest contenders in the film categories, each with three nominations. The film prizes are an important indicator for the Oscars.
The 28th SAG Awards ceremony will take place on February 27. The winners are chosen by members of the American Actors’ Union.
