Charlie Hunnam has the lead role in Shantaram, a series on Apple’s new streaming platform. The show will be the first international production of Apple TV +, Variety reports.
Shantaram is based on the Gregory David Robert book of the same name from 2003. That tells the story of Lin, an Australian who has fled prison and is trying to hide in the underworld of India. The book was published in 39 languages and 42 countries, with six million copies sold worldwide. Johnny Depp already bought the film rights of the book in the past, but that project never got off the ground.
Charlie is best known as Jax Teller from Sons of Anarchy . He also played the title role in Guy Ritchies King Arthur and appeared in Pacific Rim .
