The difficulty in video games is a rather complex notion. Everyone has in mind games with a level too easy and the level after too hard. Shadow of the Tomb Raider wants to offer more freedom.
Most of the time, video games offer different levels: easy, normal, difficult, sometimes “extreme”. That will also be true for the much-anticipated Square Enix Shadow of the Tomb Raider game, but this time, the studio wants to give players more control.
A finer management of difficulty in Shadow of the Tomb Raider
As you can see in the screenshot below, difficulty levels are now separated into categories. If you want more difficult fights, it will be enough to adjust the level of difficulty of the fights accordingly. If, on the other hand, it is the exploration or the complexity of the puzzles that one wants to adjust, again, it will be enough to refine the level in the appropriate category.
In each category, four levels are offered: easy, normal, difficult and “deadly obsession”. For example, in the Exploration category, in easy, your path will be indicated quite clearly, base camps will be illuminated, etc. In fatal obsession, on the other hand, you will not have anything of all that, you will have to manage to orientate you, to light your base camps, etc. And backups will only be possible in the camps.
Perfect to adapt the game according to your preferences
This finer management of the difficulty will allow players to customize the game as they see fit, depending on whether they prefer such or such aspect in a game of this kind. Shadow of the Tomb Raider is currently scheduled for September 14, 2018 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
