Scarlett Johansson (37) believes that at the beginning of her acting career she was only cast in certain roles because of her looks.
That is what the actress says in the podcast ‘Armchair Expert with Dex Shepard’. She also has the idea that she was sexualized as an actress in her younger years.
“I was kind of pigeonholed and very sexualized”
“I was kind of pigeonholed and very sexualized,” said Scarlett, who also says she often played characters older than herself early in her career. As a result, Scarlett, known worldwide for her role as Black Widow in the Marvel films, had the idea that she was only being asked for ‘certain roles’. “I stopped getting offers for things I really wanted to do because people saw me a certain way.”
The actress believes things have changed for young actresses such as Zendaya and Florence Pugh. “They get to play all kinds of different characters. That’s good to see.”
