Salma Hayek has been added to the cast of The House of Gucci, the film made about the murder of fashion designer Maurizio Gucci. She plays Pina Auriemma, a good friend of Patricia Reggiani (Lady Gaga).
“I am so happy that my good friend Salma has been added to this great cast,” said producer Giannina Scott in conversation with film site Deadline . “I’ve been talking to her about this Gucci movie for years. Now the moment has finally come and Salma is going to be part of it.”
The filming of the Ridley Scott directed film about the family dynasty around Italian designer Gucci is currently taking place. In addition to Gaga and Hayek, Adam Driver, Al Pacino and Jared Leto also star in The House of Gucci . The premiere is expected to take place in November 2021.
Reggiani was found guilty of organizing the murder of her ex-husband, who was shot in front of his office in 1995. His now 71-year-old ex-wife was sentenced to 29 years in prison, but was released after 18 years in 2016.
In the media, sensational stories circulated that Reggiani planned the murder because her husband left her for another woman. However, her two daughters claimed their mother’s behavior was caused by a brain tumor, which was later removed from Reggiani.
Gaga received criticism from Reggiani after it became known that she played the role. The singer would not have asked permission for this and would not have contacted Reggiani.
