Ryan Gosling Expresses his Unwavering Desire for Parenthood with Eva Mendes, his Beloved Partner, After their Fateful Encounter on the Set of The Place Beyond the Pines in 2011.
Ryan Gosling drew inspiration from The Notebook as he shared heartfelt sentiments. Reflecting on his relationship with partner Eva Mendes, whom he met during the filming of The Place Beyond the Pines in 2011, he reminisced about the moment she revealed her pregnancy with their now 8-year-old daughter, Esmeralda.
Recalling the experience, he expressed to GQ in a May 31 article, “When Eva told me she was pregnant, it was a turning point. I never envisioned this path for myself, and I’m grateful that I didn’t have full control over my destiny because what unfolded was far more incredible than anything I had ever imagined.”
The 42-year-old actor admitted that before meeting Eva, 49, he hadn’t actively considered fatherhood, but he clarified that his initial statement required elaboration. “It’s true that thoughts of having children didn’t occupy my mind before I met her, but once I got to know Eva, my perspective shifted drastically. I realized that the idea of having children without her was unimaginable,” he explained. “During our time filming The Place Beyond the Pines, there were moments when we portrayed a fictional family, and it was during those moments that I yearned for it to be real. It was then that I understood how fortunate I would be to live a life like that.”
Upon being questioned about why he hadn’t initially divulged these sentiments, Ryan clarified, “I didn’t feel inclined to delve into it, but I recognized that I wasn’t accurately portraying the truth of the matter.”
Regarding his approach to parenting, Ryan emphasized his reliance on Eva for guidance during uncertain times. “I simply lean on Eva,” he affirmed. “She possesses an innate understanding of what truly matters. Somehow, she just knows. So whenever I find myself overthinking, I turn to her for guidance.”
Following his time on The Place Beyond the Pines, Ryan Gosling became a father to his second daughter, Amada, who is now 7 years old, with Eva Mendes. His daughters serve as a constant source of inspiration for him, even influencing his decision to take on the role in the movie Barbie.
“I remember one day seeing my daughter’s Ken doll lying face down in the mud, next to a squished lemon,” Ryan recounted. “In that moment, I realized that this character’s story needed to be shared. It was a powerful reminder of the significance and impact our children’s imagination can have on our own creative journeys.”
