The villainous is back – and with her boyfriend too.
Rihanna made her epic return to the Met Gal red carpet on Monday night, wearing an all-black Balenciaga outfit that included a voluminous ruffle coat and matching hat.
The “Diamonds” singer, 33, was joined by handsome A $ AP Rocky, 32, who turned heads in a colorful quilted look from ERL, marking the couple’s red carpet debut.
The rapper slipped out of his colorful overcoat, revealing a black suit and a white ruffled shirt that matched his sweetheart as the couple held hands and snuggled gently together on the steps of the Met.
While Rihanna and Rocky were linked in January 2020 – after apparently posing together as friends at the British Fashion Awards just a month before – they only went public in November 2020 and have been inseparable ever since.
In addition to joining Rihanna in her native Barbados over the holidays in December and calling her “the love of my life” and “the only one” in a GQ interview earlier this year, the “Praise the Lord” rapper coordinates even occasionally outfits with his girlfriend.
Arguably one of the most stylish stars on the planet, Rihanna was crowned Queen of the Met Ball in 2015, when she stole the show at the “China: Through the Looking Glass”-themed shindig in a creation by Instantly iconic yellow Guo Pei stitching with fur trim and an over-the-top train.
it’s like rihanna and asap rocky planned to go as a bedding set up like he’s the quilt and she’s the comforter and they’re trying to portray how america “sleeps on” black art and artists or maybe im just tired and reading too far into it lol #MetGala pic.twitter.com/l0vmrJ6dHj— tumi (@sxgarhighstyles) September 14, 2021
And since that memorable evening, she hasn’t slacked off the gas (or our necks) when it comes to her Met styles, after dazzling in a Comme des Garçons confection with pink petals in 2017 and paying homage to the Pope in the shimmering Maison Margiela in 2018.
And as she skipped the party in 2019, there were signs that Rihanna would return this year: As Page Six reported exclusively last week, hospitality bigwit Richie Akiva teased that he and the Fenty founder had teamed up again to host an epic Met Gala after-party, being cast at a location that has yet to be disclosed.
