Israel Launches Airstrikes in Response to Hezbollah Rocket Attack
In a swift response to a deadly rocket barrage launched by Hezbollah, Israel initiated airstrikes targeting the terrorist organization’s locations in Lebanon. The rocket attack claimed the life of a woman and left eight others injured in several northern Israeli communities.
The rockets, fired by Hezbollah, struck Kibbutz Manara, Moshav Netu’a, and a military base in northern Israel. One individual remains in serious condition, while another sustained significant injuries, with six others lightly injured, as reported by local officials.
Tensions between Israel and Hezbollah have escalated, with Israel issuing repeated warnings that a full-scale war is a viable option. Earlier in February, Israel Defense Forces spokesman Daniel Hagari emphasized the country’s readiness to respond immediately to provocations, emphasizing a preference for peace but asserting preparedness for necessary actions.
“We do not choose war as our first priority, but we are certainly prepared. We will continue to act wherever Hezbollah is present, we will continue to act wherever it is required in the Middle East. What is true for Lebanon is true for Syria, and is true for other more distant places,” stated Hagari.
An offensive against Hezbollah in Lebanon would potentially engage Israel in a two-front war, considering the ongoing conflict with Hamas in the south. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and other officials anticipate an extended duration for the conflict with Hamas.
Meanwhile, the United States is actively working to prevent Israel’s response from escalating into a broader regional conflict. Iran’s proxy terrorist groups, including Hezbollah, have been responsible for attacks against the U.S., Israel, and international shipping vessels across the Middle East since October 7.
