In an excerpt from the show provided by the  US Entertainment Weekly, Witherspoon said the decision to end this relationship was the most important one in her life to find her destiny. The abuse was verbal and emotional. “A red line was crossed and my brain was suddenly switched to a switch, I knew it would be very difficult, but I just could not go on,” Witherspoon reported. She was very young at the time and the decision to defend herself would have resulted in a profound change in her personality. “I could never have been the person I am today,” said the 41-year-old.

Today, the actress is confident

This experience has allowed her to become more confident and self-confident. In contrast to today, she had a low self-esteem at that time. “It helped me get up today and say I’m ambitious,” Witherspoon continues. After a failed marriage to actor-colleague Ryan Phillippe (1999-2007) and a two-year relationship with Jake Gyllenhaal (2007-2009), Witherspoon has been happily married since 2011 to acting agent Jim Toth. The couple has their son Tennessee, 5. Their marriage with Phillippe resulted in their daughter Ava, 18, and son Deacon, 14.
