R. Kelly and his record company Sony would have agreed to no longer cooperate, tell insiders on Billboard.
The news follows all allegations to the address of R. Kelly. Several women accuse the singer of sexual abuse. Some did their story extensively in the recently released documentary Surviving R. Kelly , which was broadcast in six parts by Lifetime.
Last week activists gathered in front of Sony’s headquarters in New York. They demanded that the record label R. Kelly put aside.
The 52-year-old singer signed a contract at the beginning of his career – in the nineties – with Jive, which later became part of Sony. Since 2012, R. Kelly has been under contract with RCA, a Sony label.
Artists express disgust after appearing documentary
Several artists showed their horror in recent weeks after the release of the documentary. Thirty others Lady Gaga and Céline Dion had the songs they made with R. Kelly removed from streaming services.
The Amsterdam concert hall The Box announced last week a performance by R. Kelly before 20 April. Later , a spokesman said that behind the scenes what is to be done with the concert. “At the moment we are investigating all our options in close consultation with the concert organizer and organizations involved.”
According to the spokesman, The Box was “not yet familiar with the content of the controversial documentary” at the time that the venue was let to J-Noah Entertainment for the performance of the American singer.
Ex-manager of R. Kelly gives himself to the police
Friday afternoon, the ex-manager of the singer, James Mason, presented himself to the police. He is accused of threatening relatives of an alleged victim of the R & B singer.
In the state of Georgia there is currently a criminal investigation into R. Kelly. The singer himself denies all the allegations.
