The Nutty Professor , a 1963 comedy classic that was re-released in the 1990s starring Eddie Murphy, is getting a reboot, Deadline reports Monday.
The film will be produced by the same team behind Scream 5. There are no directors or actors on the project yet.
The original Nutty Professor – starring Jerry Lewis – is about a nerdy professor who, to improve his love life, drinks a potion that temporarily turns him into the handsome but annoying Buddy Love.
The film was remade in 1996. In this, Murphy played not only the professor and his alter ego Love, but also five relatives of the professor. That film was a huge hit and was followed by The Nutty Professor II: The Klumps , which came out in 2000.
