An airplane that crashed into a house in New Jersey in the US yesterday caused a huge fire. The pilot died in the accident.
The accident happened around 11 am in a New Jersey suburb. A twin-engine Cessna 414 crashed there onto a house, which subsequently caught fire.
The fire quickly spread to two other houses. Fire brigades from eight surrounding villages were called to extinguish the fire.
According to the New York Times , the pilot was a 74-year-old cardiologist, who was probably the only passenger on the plane. He did not survive the accident.
Local residents saw the aircraft fly ‘remarkably low’ before it hit a tree and crashed onto the house.
No one was injured on the ground, which according to the mayor is ‘a miracle’. “Fortunately no one was home.”
The house was destroyed by the plane and the fire.
