Johnny Depp fans have become active.
A petition organized last year to remove Amber Heard from the cast of the second part of “Aquaman” got a second wind. This happened after Warner Bros. forced Johnny Depp to abandon the role of the dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald in the Fantastic Beasts franchise because of his lost trial to the tabloid The Sun, which posted information about the performer’s domestic violence against his ex-wife
Warner Bros. bosses feared that the scandalous reputation of the “Pirates of the Caribbean” star would affect their image and the box office receipts of the “Harry Potter” spin-off. On this basis, Depp fans revived the above-mentioned petition for Heard’s recast in the DC blockbuster – almost a million people have already subscribed to it (999 thousand at the time of publication of the news). Given that the actress is currently involved in the filming of Zach Snyder’s Justice League, her Hollywood position is now much stronger than that of her ex-spouse, so it is unlikely that fan appeals will carry significant weight for Warner executives.
Director James Wan will begin filming the sequel to Aquaman next year. The continuation of the story of the King of Atlantis will premiere on December 15, 2022
