U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin Hospitalized, Maintains Good Condition Amid Health Challenges
U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin is currently hospitalized and in good condition, as confirmed by the Pentagon on Saturday. The department stated that a specific release date has not been determined.
Pentagon press secretary Major General Pat Ryder provided an update, stating, “He’s in contact with his senior staff and has full access to required secure communications capabilities and continues to monitor DOD’s day-to-day operations worldwide.”
Austin, 70, was initially admitted to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Maryland on December 22 for the treatment of prostate cancer. Following a brief return home, he went back to the hospital on January 1 due to complications, including a urinary tract infection, and has been under medical care since then.
