Pamela Anderson Reveals Motivation Behind Makeup-Free Transformation and Launch of Sonsie Skincare Line
In a recent interview with Allure, Pamela Anderson, renowned model and actress, delves into the reasons behind her decision to embrace a makeup-free lifestyle. The former “Baywatch” star made waves during Paris Fashion Week when she confidently attended events sans makeup. However, Anderson asserts that her newfound bare-faced appearance is not a publicity stunt associated with her latest venture, Sonsie, a skincare brand she’s launching.
The 56-year-old icon, known for her roles on “Baywatch” and various modeling assignments, discredits the notion that her makeup-free choice is a calculated move for attention. In the interview, she emphasizes, “I don’t think you should give me the credit of it being a stunt because that’s not how I think.”
Anderson’s public transition is part of her broader journey of self-discovery, as portrayed in the Netflix documentary “Pamela, a Love Story” and her memoir, “Love, Pamela.” Reflecting on her extensive career, she acknowledges the need to redefine her identity, saying, “My name gives (even) me a false impression of myself. Without context my name (suggests) a wrong image.”
The actress, who became the center of attention in the Hulu series “Pam & Tommy,” is peeling back layers to find her authentic self. Beyond shedding makeup, Anderson aims to explore her purpose and impact, stating, “It’s not just about makeup, taking off the mask, but it’s about why am I here, what’s my purpose, why do I resonate with people, can I help in any way?”
While Anderson’s career often featured glamorous images with heavy makeup, she discloses her desire to connect with her inner self. “I’ve always felt like there’s a little monster inside of me that I need to get out, I need to share,” she explains. “It’s peeling back everything and trying to remember what my original thoughts are.”
Contrary to speculation, Anderson clarifies that her choice to go makeup-free is a personal one, not driven by any political statement. She recalls incidents from her past where a change in attire and the absence of makeup allowed her to blend into crowds undetected. “I would come back from the shows wearing all these clothes and a big funny hat and everything, and there were all these paparazzi,” she reminisces, “and then I went in one door and changed into my jeans and T-shirt and no makeup and walked out the door right through the same crowd that had been chasing me, and no one noticed.”

In an earlier interview with Vogue France, Anderson expressed her disinterest in competing with fashion and her mother’s advice about embracing a makeup-free existence. “My mom always told me, ‘At some point in your life, you’re not going to want to wear makeup on your skin,’ and she’s right,” she remarked. Anderson hopes that her decision to forgo makeup will encourage women to explore diverse means of self-expression. “I’m not trying to be the prettiest girl in the room,” she asserts. “I feel like it’s just freedom. It’s a relief.”
