Uzo Aduba has signed a multi-year contract with CBS Studios to produce multiple series, with Low Country being the first. Deadline reports on Thursday that the actress, known from the Orange Is the New Black series, plays an agent in the new series.
In Low Country, Aduba takes on the role of Shirley Johnson, an openly lesbian cop in South Carolina. She battles a rich, criminal family that makes everyone live in fear.
It was recently announced that Aduba will also play the lead role in a new version of the series In Treatment . She has also landed a role in Amazon Studios’ Solos series with Morgan Freeman, Anne Hathaway and Helen Mirren .
Aduba became known to the general public for her role as Suzanne Warren in Orange Is The New Black . With this role she managed to win two Emmys. Last year she won a third Emmy for her role in Mrs. America .
