American presenter and entrepreneur Oprah Winfrey is donating two million dollars to Puerto Rico to help rebuild the country after a hurricane caused major damage to the country in 2017.
One million dollars is used to stimulate art education in the Caribbean island. Winfrey says she was inspired by the American theater maker Lin-Manuel Miranda, who brought his musical “Hamilton” to the island. Miranda thereby raised money for the reconstruction of the island.
Hurricane Maria killed over 3000 people in September 2017. Houses were destroyed and large parts of Puerto Rico were without water and electricity for months.
