Opera singer Jessye Norman died Monday at the age of 74 in a hospital in New York. AP reports that on the basis of a statement from her family.
Norman won four Grammy Awards and the National Medal of Arts as a soprano. The American died in hospital from an allergic reaction and failure of multiple organs as well as complications that resulted from damage to her spine that she sustained in 2015.
“We are very proud of the musical performance of Jessye and the inspiration that she spread to the public worldwide,” said the family.
