The family of American rapper Nipsey Hussle wants to organize a big memorial for him on Thursday at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. TMZ reports this. In 2009 the memorial for Michael Jackson was organized in the same sports complex.
The sports complex has 21,000 seats. The commemoration is only accessible to people who purchase a ticket via a website. The ceremony is organized by the family in consultation with Staples. The Los Angeles police are present to secure the event.
It is a tough job to organize such a big event in less than a week in the Staples Center, where the Clippers basketball players play their last home game of the season on Wednesday evening. Large rental companies are engaged for the lighting and decoration of the stage.
Nipsey Hussle (33) was shot on Sunday in front of his Los Angeles store. Two men in his company were also hit, but survived the shooting. The police have arrested a 29-year-old suspect, suspected of murder and two attempted murder. He must appear again in court on 10 May.
Nipsey, whose real name is Ermias Davidson Asghedom, became known in the rap scene with a few mixtapes. Last year his first studio album, Victory Lap, was released. The album was nominated for a Grammy in the best rap album category, but eventually had to beat Cardi B. The rapper leaves behind a girlfriend and two children.
