NFL Star Von Miller Arrested on Assault Charges Against Pregnant Girlfriend in Dallas
Buffalo Bills linebacker and NFL star, Von Miller, found himself at the center of legal trouble as he was arrested on charges of assaulting his pregnant girlfriend in their high-rise apartment in Dallas. WFAA obtained exclusive details, including a 911 call made by the girlfriend, where she reported being choked and hit.
According to police sources and court documents obtained by WFAA, the incident occurred on Wednesday in the Uptown area of Dallas. The 911 call revealed the severity of the situation, with the girlfriend describing bruises, pulled hair, and blood.
The 34-year-old DeSoto native, Miller, now faces a third-degree felony charge of assaulting a pregnant person. Glenn Heights Police Chief Nick Bristow confirmed that Miller turned himself in and was later released on a $5,000 bond after processing at the DeSoto Police Department jail.
The girlfriend, who is six weeks pregnant, was treated for minor injuries at the scene and later provided a detailed account of the incident during a police interview. The arrest warrant affidavit, obtained by WFAA, outlined a heated argument between Miller and his girlfriend, escalating to physical aggression.
The girlfriend claimed that the dispute arose from her reluctance to travel on her birthday, leading to an argument in their bedroom. Miller allegedly became visibly angry, demanding her to leave the apartment. As she tried to gather belongings, the situation escalated, with Miller reportedly shoving, pushing, and applying pressure to her neck.
The affidavit detailed disturbing actions, including Miller trying to film the girlfriend on his phone while continuing to push her. She pleaded, “Stop! I’m pregnant!” but Miller allegedly persisted. The altercation further escalated when Miller grabbed her phone, threw her laptop on the floor, stomped on it, and pulled her hair, causing her to fall.
Despite the gravity of the situation, Miller’s girlfriend downplayed the incident in a text to WFAA, describing it as a “verbal disagreement” and insisting that “no one assaulted anyone.”
The Buffalo Bills issued a statement acknowledging the incident, stating they are gathering more information before commenting further. Miller, in his second season with the Bills, had previously played for the Los Angeles Rams and the Denver Broncos, earning accolades such as three first-team All-Pro selections and contributing to the Broncos’ Super Bowl victory in 2015.
This isn’t Miller’s first brush with legal issues, as he was under investigation by the Parker, Colo., police department in 2021. However, charges were not pursued, and Miller continued to play for the Broncos that season. The unfolding legal proceedings will undoubtedly impact Miller’s career and reputation in the NFL.
