Comedy actress Melissa McCarthy will play the lead role in The Kitchen, a gangster film about an Irish gang sent to prison.
The women of the gang members, played by McCarthy and comedian Tiffany Haddish, decide to take over the “work” of their husbands, reports Deadline.
This makes them one of the most ruthless and powerful gangsters in the seventies.
McCarthy (47) mainly plays in comedy films and series. She was seen in Gilmore Girls and in the movie Bridesmaids, for which she received an Oscar nomination. Soon she will be seen in the comedy Life of the Party.
Debut
The Kitchen is the directing debut of Andrea Berloff. She has previously worked as screen-writer and has collaborated on films such as Straight outta Compton and World Trade Center.
