Black Panther has raised a billion dollars worldwide since Saturday. The film is the 33rd title ever that has crossed the billion border, reports Variety. Black Panther only did so in 26 days.

The Marvel action film with a dark hero in the lead has recorded several records in recent weeks. That is how Black Panther became the best performing action hero film ever. In the Netherlands, the film yielded nearly 5.5 million euros in three weeks.

Black Panther is already the fifth Marvel title that generates more than a billion dollars. Previously, The AvengersAvengers: Age of UltronIron Man 3 and Captain America: Civil War were already Marvel blockbusters.

The film tells about T’Challa (played by Chadwick Boseman), who returns to the African country of Wakanda after his father’s death to take his rightful place as king.

However, an old enemy also claims to be entitled to the throne, a claim that threatens the survival of the world. The superhero movie was made by director Ryan Coogler.
