Mariah Carey collaborated on the album Someone’s Ugly Daughter by the rock band Chick in 1995 while recording her own album Daydream . The singer shares the news via Twitter on Sunday in an excerpt from her biography.

“Just for fun, but it got me through a bad period,” Carey said of working on the rock album. The singer does not explain why it was a “lesser period”.
According to her management, Carey has written, produced and performed all the songs on Someone’s Ugly Daughter as a backing singer. The singer was also responsible for directing the video for Chicks song Demented .
Carey’s biography The Meaning of Mariah Carey will be released September 29. In the book, the singer would also reveal that she was drugged and abused by her older sister at the age of twelve .
