The high word is finally out: there will be a live-action feature film by Barbie. Margot Robbie will take on the role of the popular blonde. That is what Barbie manufacturer Mattel and Warner Bros are announcing today.
The Australian actress says it is a great honor to get into the skins of the iconic doll. She is also convinced that her role will have a very positive influence on children. When the film will come out, is not yet known, the same applies to the storyline.
The plans for the arrival of a Barbie film have been on the table for some time. Sony announced the project in 2014. Earlier, Amy Schumer reportedly signed for the leading role. Yet that plan fell into the water because she could not combine the recordings with other projects. Anne Hathaway would also be in the running, but in October it was announced that Robbie was in conversation for the main role.
