Kim Kardashian Ventures into Iconic Territory: Producing and Starring in Elizabeth Taylor Docuseries
Kim Kardashian, at 43, is diving into a new project that pays homage to one of the most legendary actresses in cinematic history. The reality TV star is all set to both feature in and serve as an executive producer for an upcoming three-part docuseries about the late Elizabeth Taylor, titled “Elizabeth Taylor: Rebel Superstar,” slated for broadcast on BBC.
The Hollywood Reporter notes that the series will delve into Taylor’s remarkable journey, exploring how she transitioned from a “child star to [the] highest-paid actress in the world” and fundamentally altered the landscape of fame throughout her extensive career. Kardashian expressed her admiration for Taylor, highlighting her as an unapologetic fighter and a trailblazer who paved the way for those who came after her.
Kim Kardashian will contribute to the series with insights and reflections, drawing from her final interview with Taylor before the iconic actress succumbed to congestive heart failure in March 2011 at the age of 79. The show is set to feature discussions with other notable figures such as actresses Joan Collins and Margaret O’Brien, Taylor’s close friend and singer Carole Bayer Sager, and Dr. Anthony Fauci, a key figure in the fight against the AIDS epidemic alongside Taylor.
Alistair Pegg, BBC commissioning editor, expressed anticipation for the series, stating it promises to offer a fresh perspective on Elizabeth Taylor’s acting prowess and her ability to reinvent herself.
The inspiration for this endeavor stems from Kardashian’s 2011 interview with Taylor for Harper’s Bazaar, where the reality star declared Taylor as her idol and sought advice on following in her footsteps. The upcoming docuseries aims to provide viewers with a deeper understanding of Elizabeth Taylor, both as an actor and as a multifaceted individual capable of constant self-reinvention.
Kim Kardashian has not shied away from expressing her admiration for Taylor in the years following the actress’s passing. The docuseries project joins a growing list of Kardashian’s ventures in the film and TV industry. After her debut on American Horror Story in September 2023, she announced a collaboration with Ryan Murphy for a new Hulu legal drama, where she will play a Los Angeles lawyer and serve as an executive producer alongside her mother, Kris Jenner. Additionally, Netflix revealed Kardashian’s involvement in producing and starring in the female-led comedy, “The 5th Wheel,” details of which are yet to be disclosed.
As Kardashian continues to diversify her portfolio, her latest project promises to offer an in-depth exploration of Elizabeth Taylor’s enduring impact on Hollywood and beyond.
