A truck driver who caused a fatal accident in April 2019 has received a 100-year reduced sentence in the United States. That happened after fierce protests broke out, including Kim Kardashian (41) who spoke out strongly against the 110-year prison term imposed on the Cuban immigrant earlier this month. Thanks in part to her efforts, and those of thousands of others, Rogel Aguilera-Mederos now ‘only’ has to sit for 10 years. This is reported by various American media.
Rogel Aguilera-Mederos, 26 at the time, was driving a truck and drove into a traffic jam more than two years ago because his brakes gave out. The accident killed four people and injured several others. A jury found him guilty and a judge sentenced him to 110 years in prison. Colorado Governor Jared Polis decided on Thursday to reduce the “arbitrary and unlawful” sentence by 100 years to 10 years in prison.
