Keke Palmer and Darius Jackson Seek Private Mediation Amidst Custody Battle
In a recent development, Keke Palmer and her ex-boyfriend, Darius Jackson, are opting for private mediation to address the custody dispute over their 8-month-old son, Leodis. Last month, Palmer filed a restraining order against Jackson, accusing him of physical and emotional abuse throughout their two-year relationship.
Palmer’s initial filing detailed instances of alleged violence, including physical attacks, destruction of personal property, and emotional abuse. The former couple has agreed to maintain the Temporary Restraining Order issued on November 9, 2023, until the hearing.
According to court documents obtained by “Page Six,” Palmer and Jackson commenced mediation on Wednesday, intending to continue discussions at a mutually agreeable date, yet to be determined. The ex-couple has also requested a postponement of an upcoming court date related to the restraining order to focus on resolving their custody arrangement privately.
Despite the relationship reportedly ending in October, Palmer claims that the abuse persisted, leading to the filing of the restraining order. One incident allegedly involved Jackson trespassing into Palmer’s home without consent, threatening her, and physically attacking her. Security-camera footage included in the filing reportedly shows a man striking a woman over a sofa.
Palmer recounted incidents of abuse, including one in February 2022 where she alleges Jackson “body slammed” her onto the stairs by her neck. Another incident at a restaurant in April 2022 led to Jackson allegedly destroying her belongings and accusing her of flirting with another woman.
The filing also sheds light on the emotional abuse, with Palmer describing instances of “love bombing,” where Jackson would alternate between making her feel valued and becoming distant over perceived slights. Palmer accuses Jackson of gaslighting her, manipulating her into feeling at fault when, in reality, she was not.
The public became aware of the tumultuous relationship over the summer when Jackson publicly criticized Palmer for her outfit at an Usher concert. Although fans speculated a breakup at that time, the filing indicates that the relationship definitively ended in October.
The Cut has reached out to a representative for Jackson for comment, and updates will be provided as available.
