In the documentary “Jeen-Yuhs” broadcast on Netflix and which is dedicated to him, Kanye West returned to his suicidal thoughts and his addiction problems. This strongly reacted to the relatives of the American rapper, very worried.
If you are a fan of Kanye West, you could not have missed it: the first part of the documentary “Jeen-Yuhs: A Kanye trilogy”, has recently been available on the Netflix platform. This documentary notably lifts the veil on the inner demons of the American rapper by offering an intimate look at the mental health problems of Kanye West , who does not fail to confess.
This first episode, from which the rest of the trilogy will be released in the coming weeks, is the beginning of a work of more than two decades: Kanye West has been followed for 21 years, since the very beginning of his celebrity. It’s in Part 3 of “Jeen-Yuhs” that director Clarence Simmons explains that he first noticed a distinct change in the rapper during his 2008 Glow in the Dark tour , which took place a few months after the death of his beloved mother Donda in 2007. “I could see that Kanye was in mourning, but he continued to work. He refused to stop. He did not seem to be the same anymore” , says the latter.
Suicidal thoughts and drug addiction
Over the years, West has become a family man, marrying Kim Kardashian in 2014 and welcoming children North, 8, Saint, 6, Chicago, 3, and Psalm, 2. Yet his personal life remained in turmoil, including hospitalization in 2016 due to exhaustion and lack of sleep shortly after he canceled the remaining dates of his Saint Pablo tour. While recording in the studio with Kid Cudi the following year, Kanye confessed to the “Pursuit of Happiness” rapper that he had had suicidal thoughts and substance abuse issues.
“While I was at home with my wife and kids, I had suicidal thoughts. And I didn’t even realize I had become addicted to painkillers.” Faced with these testimonies and his passages in psychiatry, several of his relatives reacted strongly. “I’m worried about him”, “I miss the old Kanye”, “we don’t recognize him anymore”…
