Johnny Depp Contemplating Collaboration with Disney for Potential Film Project, Insider Claims
In a surprising turn of events, Johnny Depp, the renowned actor who emerged victorious in his defamation case against ex-wife Amber Heard, is reportedly considering a potential return to Disney, despite his removal from the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise.
According to an exclusive report by People Magazine, the star of Jeanne du Barry is open to working with the studio again if they present him with the right opportunity. An insider close to Depp revealed, “Anything is possible. If it’s the right project, he’ll do it.”
Although details regarding the specific project were not disclosed by the source, it remains unclear whether Depp’s potential involvement would be in the highly anticipated sixth installment of Pirates of the Caribbean or an entirely new venture altogether.
The New York Times, citing its own source, unveiled that Disney seems to be gradually warming up to the idea of collaborating with Depp once more. This development comes after the actor emphatically stated, under oath during his explosive libel trial against Heard, that he would never return to a Disney film under any circumstances.
During the trial, Depp was asked by Heard’s attorney if a hypothetical scenario of Disney offering him a staggering sum of $300 million and a million alpacas would convince him to work on another Pirates of the Caribbean movie. To this, Depp firmly replied, “That is true,” implying his adamant refusal.
He further elaborated, “Two years had gone by of constant worldwide talk about me being this wife-beater. So I’m sure that Disney was trying to cut ties to be safe.” Depp highlighted the prevailing #MeToo movement at the time and how Disney seemed to distance themselves from any association with him while still capitalizing on his iconic character, Captain Jack Sparrow.
“They didn’t remove my character from the rides. They didn’t stop selling dolls of Captain Jack Sparrow,” Depp added, emphasizing Disney’s selective approach. “They didn’t stop selling anything. They just didn’t want there to be something trailing behind me that they’d find,” he concluded.
As speculation abounds regarding Johnny Depp’s potential return to the Disney fold, fans and industry observers eagerly await an official announcement to shed light on this intriguing development in the actor’s career.
