The legendary composer John Williams suggests that he is writing his last soundtrack for Star Wars with episode IX.
In an interview with radio station KUSC (via NME ), Williams explained that he will stop composing for the series after the next opus, ending 42 years of association with Star Wars.
“We know JJ Abrams is preparing [Star Wars: Episode IX] which I will normally be doing for him next year,” said Williams. “I can not wait to do it. He will finish a series of nine, which will be good enough for me. “
Williams composed the music for all Star Wars films, with Michael Giacchino doing Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, and John Powell doing Solo: A Star Wars Story. Williams did compose a theme for Solo.
Star Wars: The Last Jedi brought Williams back to his 51st Oscar nomination, bolstering his own record for the person with the most nominations in the history of the ceremony.
