Jodie Foster Shares Humorous Take on Working with Gen Z in Recent Interview
In a recent interview with The Guardian, Academy Award-winning actress Jodie Foster humorously expressed her take on working with the younger generation, particularly Gen Z. The generation, encompassing those born between 1996 and 2010, received Foster’s lighthearted critique for their unconventional work attitudes.
Foster playfully commented on their behavior, stating, “They’re really annoying, especially in the workplace. They’re like, ‘Nah, I’m not feeling it today, I’m gonna come in at 10:30 a.m.'” She also highlighted their nonchalant approach to communication, sharing an example of correcting grammatical errors in emails, to which they respond with, “Why would I do that, isn’t that kind of limiting?”
Despite her humorous remarks, Foster clarified that she doesn’t see herself as superior to Gen Z. In fact, she has actively engaged with and mentored young actors in the industry. Reflecting on her own experience as a child actor, Foster recently reached out to “The Last of Us” Emmy nominee Bella Ramsey and asked her to introduce Foster at a Hollywood event.
When asked about her advice to young actors, Foster emphasized the importance of learning to relax and not overthinking. “They need to learn how to not think about it so much, how to come up with something that’s theirs,” she remarked. “I can help them find that, which is so much more fun than being the protagonist of the story with all the pressure behind it.”
In addition to her insights on working with Gen Z, Foster has been making headlines as an Oscar contender for her supporting role in Netflix’s swimming drama, “Nyad.” She is also set to lead the fourth season of HBO’s “True Detective,” premiering on January 14. Foster’s recent interview with Elle magazine went viral for her candid criticisms of superhero movies, expressing her hope for a broader range of cinematic experiences.
Foster’s outstanding performance in “Nyad” has earned her a Golden Globe nomination and a Critic’s Choice Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress.
