Images from Iranian media show Taraneh carrying flowers and not wearing a headscarf when she leaves Tehran prison, while women in Iran are required to cover their bodies. Prior to her arrest, the actress posted a series of messages on social media, in which she condemned, among other things, the execution of protesters. The 38-year-old woman also posted a photo of herself without a headscarf.
The arrest of the actress led to criticism from the film world, among others. Taraneh is one of the most acclaimed stars of Iranian cinema. She is best known for her role in The Salesman (2016) by award-winning director Asghar Farhadi, with whom she also collaborated in the films Fireworks Wednesday and About Elly . She also plays the leading role in the movie Leila’s Brothers, which was released last year.
Really happy to see Taraneh freed from prison, and hoping for a similar outcome for everyone else detained https://t.co/wQQJ7izBes
