Prince Harry (37) and his wife Meghan (40) paid tribute to the people of Ukraine in their speech of thanks during the presentation of the NAACP Image Awards. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex received the President’s Award for their commitment to social equality worldwide. Meghan and Harry also expressed their support for the Ukrainian population on the website of Archewell, the foundation that created the couple.
“We want to remember the people of Ukraine who urgently need our continued support as a global community,” Harry said at the ceremony. Last Thursday morning, Russia invaded Ukraine. The Russian army is moving further and further into the country, already causing hundreds of civilian casualties, some of whom have died.
In the speech, Harry also said that he and his wife are meant for each other, so that they can help others together. “Our lives have been brought together for a reason. We share a commitment to a life of service, a responsibility to fight injustice, and a belief that the things most often overlooked are the most important to listen to.”
