Guardians of the Galaxy fans have been left wondering if there will be a fourth installment of the beloved film series.
Despite James Gunn, the director of the series, previously stating that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 would be the final film, and the cast expressing their reluctance to return, hope among fans remains.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) delivered an epic culmination of the superheroes’ journey with the final installment, which hit theaters in May. The film received high praise from both critics and audiences alike. Now, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 can be streamed on Disney+ after its successful run in cinemas.
The conclusion of the film hinted at the superheroes’ futures, with most of them choosing different paths. Rocket and Groot decided to form a new team, while Gamora rejoined the Ravagers, and Peter Quill, also known as Star-Lord, returned to his hometown to be with his grandfather.
Despite the film’s ending, fans have expressed their desire for a fourth Guardians of the Galaxy movie. On social media platform Threads, a fan urged James Gunn to create a fourth installment, to which he responded that he plans to leave it at three films, but he thanked the fan for the support.
Currently, Gunn is occupied with revitalizing the DC Universe, as he recently took on the role of co-CEO alongside Peter Safran. This added responsibility may be a significant reason for him not to continue with the Guardians of the Galaxy series.
However, in a recent interview with Esquire, Gunn hinted at the possibility of a fourth film if the right director could bring a fresh perspective to the franchise. He expressed his enthusiasm about the potential and mentioned several directors he would love to see take on the project.
For now, it remains uncertain whether a fourth Guardians of the Galaxy film will materialize. Fans can only hope that Gunn’s words about leaving it at three may change if the right opportunity arises.
