If Fox has decided to cancel many series lately, this is not the case of Gotham, who will return for a final lap.
Relatively quick to cancel Lucifer, The Last Man on Earth, The Mick, The Exorcist and Brooklyn Nine-Nine or push Clayne Crawford out of Lethal Weapon, Fox will have taken a little more time on the future of Gotham. It was finally announced that the DC series will return for a fifth season, but that it will also be the last.
A final season to wrap Gotham
This final season – which could be shorter than the previous 22 episodes and obviously approaching a reboot as the major events for the scenario are announced in the last episode of season 4 (called No Man’s Land) – should especially be interested in the transformation of Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz) into Batman.
For the record, the series including Ben McKenzie, Robin Taylor, Donal Logue, Cory Michael Smith, Erin Richards, Sean Pertwee or Camren Cibondova tries in his way to tell the beginnings of the main heroes (Gordon, Alfred …) and villains ( Penguin, Joker, Nygma, Poison Ivy …) of the Batman universe. Often mocked, the series has seen its audiences fall each season.
Season 4 of Gotham ends May 17th.
