The gladiator’s jacket that Russell Crowe wore during the filming of the film Gladiator raised 125,000 Australian dollars on Saturday at an auction in Australia, almost 80,000 euros.
Sotheby’s auction house had estimated the proceeds from the torso-armor of Crowes character Maximus at 20,000 Australian dollars.
Many of the memorabilia from the 2000 film exceeded expectations. The actor auctions a number of very special and personal items from his glorious film career. He does this following the divorce of his wife Danielle Spencer.
A replica of a Roman chariot was sold for 40,000 euros, while the target price was 6,000 euros. Other auction items are film posters, accessories and clothing items that he used in different films. The actor also auctions several furniture and very expensive hand-painted room screens.
